Connecting Paintmap and Forum
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:24:37 am »
Here's a question -- if a comment is posted on an artwork in the forum, should that comment be duplicated on the paintmap site?  How can paintmap benefit from the forum, but augment the traffic and momentum on the map-oriented site?  Further, if people view a work in the forum, might they be less motivated to view it via the maps?

I, for one, feel that the old "paintmap" format is more unique than the forum model.  Keep thinking through how these can work in an integrated way.

Good question PhilIrish,

That's the reason why we have been waiting, we really dont know if the Forum is going to be useful or which boards are going to be suitable for paintmap.

But what we know is that there is no way to create a community only with the paintings comments, we need a place to allow users to talk about cross-cutting themes.

That's something to solve, our idea is to add more integration in the future. For example any new painting have now the option to be posted automatically in te Forum, this way we hope to move people to post it first in paintmap, in the future we would like to show the paintmap comments and the forum replies in the same stream (in both places).

This is the beginning, so probably we'll have to change a lot of things with your help and the community feedback.
